Freeport Locations

Schwarz Funeral Home was opened in 1928 by B. Leo Schwarz at 816 S. Galena Ave. where its main office and funeral home still reside today. Mr. Schwarz opened his funeral home with the vision of offering kind, compassionate, and affordable after-life needs for the greater Freeport area. Schwarz remained owned by the Schwarz family until 1978, when then employee and Funeral Director, Don Russell, purchased the Galena Ave. Chapel to continue on the legacy that Mr. Schwarz started. Mr. Russell has remained at Schwarz Funeral Homes in Freeport since that time and has spread his services to the west edge of Freeport on Park Blvd., Lanark, and Pearl City. The Park Blvd. Chapel was purchased by Schwarz Funeral Homes and held its first service on December 29, 2007. The Park Blvd. Chapel offers full service needs, including a location for post-service meals and meetings. Freeport Crematory, Freeport's first crematory, was added to Schwarz Funeral Homes in 1998.
