William A. Herold, 94, of Pearl City, IL, passed away on August 2nd, 2024. He was born on September 4th, 1929, the Son of Christ and Lucinda Herold.

He married Jean Marie Gardner December 12th, 1954 in Sturgis South Dakota. She was the love of his life. She passed away February 2018.

Survivors include Children: William (Linda) Herold and Diane (Rory) Bardell; Grandchildren: Jimmy and Frank Ku, Jennifer (Eric) Hermonson and Jason (Carrie HiIle) Bardell; 3 great-grandchildren: Ellie and Easton Bardell and Cole Hermonson; Sisters Barb Moyer and Carolyn (Dale) Lapp, many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Jean of 64 years, children: Christine and Steven Herold, and siblings: Doris Collie, Christ Herold, Kathryn Taylor, Shirley Fosler, Margaret Brubaker, Jim Herold, Joe Herold, Sara Cox and Linda Capion.

He served in the United States Marine Corp from 1948-1952 and was wounded at the Chosen Reservoir in Korea and received the purple heart. He enjoyed selling antiques for 48 years and always enjoyed spending time with his family.

His life memberships include: D.A.V, American Legion, K.W.V.A, 1st Marine division, Steam club and FFA alumni. He was also a member of the Pearl City Historical society.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday August 7, 2024 from 4 PM to 7 PM, at the Schwarz Park Blvd Chapel, 608 S. Park Blvd in Freeport, IL. Graveside service will be on Thursday August 8, 2024 at 10 AM, in Highland Cemetery in Pearl City, IL.
