William Lewis Hawkins, Jr, 88, of Freeport, IL, passed away on December 31, 2023 at Medina Nursing Home in Durand. He was born on October 19, 1935 in Ripley, TN, to William Hawkins Sr. and Mizella Hawkins Stone. He attended Lauderdale County High School and on October 11, 1980, married wife Carol in Freeport. He was a truck driver and served and also served 10 years in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the Church of God in Christ. Organizations included Audubon, over the hill motorcycle club, and Freeport Recumbent Bicycle Club.

Survivors include his brother Harry (Mary) Hawkins, wife Carol Hawkins, daughters: Gwendolyn (Robert) Kennedy, Larita Hawkins, and Stephanie (Raymond) Gosha; son Dwayne Hawkins, grandchildren: Porsha (Mike) Suttle, Tanisha Robinson, Devron Robinson, Alleyah Kennedy; and a host of great-grandchildren, family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mizella Hawkins Stone, father, William Hawkins Sr, brothers: Jacob Hawkins and Ray Hawkins, and sister, Mary Stanley.
