Willard A. Shippee, age 95, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 8, 2020, at home with his family by his side.  He was born August 18, 1924 in Lena, IL to Leon and Eliza May (Wiley) Shippee.  Willard married Norma Jean Shimic on September 2, 1951 in Guide Rock, Nebraska.  He spent most of his career working for Cox Construction in Lena.  In his free time, he enjoyed cracking walnuts to share with friends, mushroom hunting and especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by children Pat (Rich) Daughenbaugh, Pam Shippee, and Rhonda (Bill Henning) Scheider; grandchildren Jeremy (Kym) Daughenbaugh, Jodi (Tim) Watter, Brian (Julie Dumas) Scheider, Stacey (Jamie Grunder) Scheider; great-grandchildren Taylor and Trevor Dawson, and Zach and Ashley Watter; sisters Evelyn True and Julia Reeves; sisters-in-laws Marie Hulsebusch and Shirley (Rudy) Miller; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Norma Jean in 2016, son Greg in 2019, brothers Wiley, John and Joseph, sisters Catherine Jane, sisters-in-laws Mae and Alice.

Memorial services will be held at 12:00, Saturday March 14 ^th at McConnell United Methodist Church with Pastor Donna Hoffman and Ernest Stabenow officiating.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 to time of service.  Cremation rights have been accorded.   A private burial service will be held at a later date.  A memorial has been established in his memory.
