Wayne Meck, 100, of Freeport, IL, passed away on July 24, 2026, at Serenity Estates of Freeport. He was born on July 22, 1926, at St. Francis Hospital in Freeport, to Titus Meck and Elsie (Hartman) Meck. He graduated from Freeport High School in 1944. On October 16, 1954, he married Nancy Gillette at Freeport Baptist Church in Freeport. Wayne had many occupations, including working on the family farm, milk routes and pickups for Lancaster Township, and a truck driver: 29 years for Freeport Fast Freight, and 9 years for Intercity Box. His hobbies included woodworking and handyman work. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Freeport, and Zion Church.

Survivors include his son Kevin (Lori) Meck of Kempton, IN, grandchildren: Nathan Meck, Matthew Meck, Katie (Joshua) McCormack, and Marilyn Meck; sisters-in-law: Sylvia Gillette and Jerry Downs; daughter-in-law Kristi Meck, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Carol Meck, brother Orvis Meck, wife Nancy Meck, and son Timothy Meck.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday August 8, 2026, at 11 AM, with visitation from 10 AM until time of service, at the Zion Church of Freeport, 4292 W. Stephenson St Rd in Freeport, IL, with Pastor Steve Rios officiating. Interment at Freeport Mennonite Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for Zion Church and Unity Hospice.
