Virginia J. (Leverton) Breed, 104 yrs., Stockton, IL, passed away on September 20, 2024, at Winn-Prairie Assisted Living in Freeport, IL.

She was born on November 1, 1919, in Warren, IL to Clinton and Iva (Bausman) Leverton. She was a 1938 graduate of Warren High School. She attended the Warren Presbyterian Church and later years the EUB/United Methodist Church in Stockton, IL.

On March 13, 1940, she married Charles W. Breed at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, IA. She was immediately `drafted into becoming a farmer's wife.' She was a member of the Jefferson Thrift Club and various card clubs, along with the local and area Golf Leagues (until her right-knee replacement at the age of 92).

She is survived by her children: Larry Breed, Stockton, IL, Barb (Dennis) Kuhl, Freeport, IL, Nancy Buckridge, Sparks, NV, Marsha (John) Hagen, Franksville, WI, a daughter-in-law Nancy Breed, Galena, IL, and a sister-in-law Beth Leverton, 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles in August 1966, and a son Brian in March 2013; also, five siblings Margaret (Gerald) Sargent, Franklin (Marjorie) Leverton, Harriet (Donald) Krupke, Luella (Howard) White, and Gary Leverton.

The family would like to give a special "Thank-you" to the Care Team Staff at Winn-Prairie Assisted Living for the excellent care she received, as they became a part of her life as she made her home there.

A "Celebration of Life" and "Visitation" will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025, from 1pm-4pm, at the Stockton Park House, (Stockton Memorial Park) 600 N. Pearl Street, Stockton, IL.

A memorial has been established for the Stockton Fire Protection Dist., Stockton, IL.
