Victoria (Vicki) Chekouras, 73, of Racine, WI, passed away on May 1, 2024, at home. She was born on September 12, 1950, in Sheboygan, WI, to George R. Newberry and Gladys E. (Kunde) Newberry. She was a 1968 graduate of Freeport High School and attended Highland Community College.

She married Thomas Chekouras on May 6, 1978, in Freeport, IL. She worked in computer operations at S.C. Johnson & Sons, Inc. in Racine, WI, before retirement. She enjoyed reading and traveling, and was an artist, winemaker, and master gardener.

Survivors include her husband Thomas Chekouras of Racine, WI, siblings: Ginny (Bruce) Weir of Freeport, Bonnie (Terry) Marsh of Freeport, Norwood (Terri) Newberry of Freeport, and Richard (Debbie) Newberry of Maysville, KY; one aunt, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, and brother-in-law Bruce Weir.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday May 9, 2024, at 11 AM, with visitation at 10 AM until time of service, at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Freeport, IL, with Michelle Knight officiating. Interment will take place at a later date.

A memorial has been established in her name.
