Thomas Karstedt, 61, of Freeport, IL, passed away on March 13, 2021 at home. He was born on November 13, 1959 at St. Francis Hospital in Freeport to John V. Karstedt, Sr. and Paula J. (Noeske) Karstedt. He attended Freeport High School and on July 4, 1985, married Jennifer (Jennie) Reuter. He was the head custodian at Freeport School District 145. He also was a member of the Eagles Club and bowling league.

Survivors include his wife Jennifer (Jennie); children: Brian (Sarah) Karstedt, Christopher Karstedt, Shaun Lynch, and Chelsea (Chad) Eilders; sisters: Cindy Benson and Connie Goode; many grandchildren, nephew Mason Benson, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by both parents, John and Paula Karstedt, stepson Alan Quinto, grandson Elijah, brother John Karstedt, Jr, father-in-law Carl Reuter, and nephew Brandon Goode.

A public visitation will be held on Friday March 19, 2021, from 4-7 PM, at the Schwarz Park Blvd Chapel, 608 S. Park Blvd in Freeport, IL. A private service will be held on Saturday March 20, 2021, at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport, with Pastor Christina Singh officiating. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in his name for the Friends Forever Humane Society and St. Jude's.
