Thomas R. Eberle, age 74, passed away surrounded by family at the VA Hospital in Madison on April 10,2024

Thomas (Tom) was born to Robert L. Eberle and Helen (Donegan) Eberle on January 21, 1950, in Freeport, Illinois. He was one of four siblings: Kathy (Larson), Pat (Carey), and Mark. Tom graduated from Freeport High School in in 1968. In 1970, he enlisted in the United States Army. He served in Vietnam in the 101st Airborne Division, Screaming Eagles. Upon returning to the United States, Tom continued to serve as a member of the National Guard. In 1972, he married Kathleen A. Wiemers, and they were blessed with two children.

Tom worked for the United States Postal Service until his retirement. In addition, he also was a licensed Real Estate agent/Broker for over forty years in the Freeport area. He and his wife Kathy enjoyed traveling visiting many places in the United States and abroad. For him the highlight of their travels being their tours of Germany and Ireland. He enjoyed nature and loved his annual fishing trips to Canada with his friends and family.  He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and the American Legion. He loved animals and was a supporter of the Friends Forever Humane Society.

Tom is survived by his wife of fifty-four years, Kathleen (Wiemers) Eberle, his daughter Sarah Eberle, his son and daughter-in-law Jeff and Becky Eberle, and his grandson Adam Eberle. He will also be greatly missed by his canine companion Benny.  He is also survived by his sisters Kathy (Glen) Larson, Pat Carey, and his nieces and nephews.

Tom is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Helen Eberle, his brother Mark, and his in-laws George and Loretta Wiemers.

There will be no visitation. There will be a family service on April 23, 2024, at St. Thomas Aquinas Church with internment at St. Joseph Cemetery.

Tom, fondly nicknamed Grumpy by his grandson, loved his family, and loved spending time fishing, biking, and playing board games. He will be truly missed and his memory cherished.
