Sue Anna
Langenberg
Nov 2, 1946 — Jun 26, 2023
Sue Anna Langenberg, 76, of Freeport, IL, passed away on June 26, 2023 at home. She was born on November 2, 1946 in Eaton Rapids, Michigan. She was a 1964 graduate of Saline Area High School. She was also a graduate of NIU, with a major in dance criticism. She was a ballet dancer for Ruth Page Foundation of Chicago (in the '70s), disciplined teacher, and choreographer. She was a story teller who saw the world in movement and music, a rebel unafraid to speak her mind, a creative comic force ready for the next joke. She wrote a humor column "Hot Flashes", and many reviews of theatre productions for several years. She had a unique insight and knowledge of the performing arts. She loved to garden monster tomatoes, flowers, and houseplants. She loved animals (that weren't creepy) and revelled in watching murder, mysteries and scandal. Her factory work included Burgess batteries, then Newell Window Furnishings of Freeport, then Bay Valley Foods of Mendota, IL. I've never seen someone so comfortable in the lobby of a theater, mingling in her playground, excited for it all.
Survivors include her son Jason Langenberg, daughter Piper Deering, and grandsons: Calvin Deering and Connor Deering.
She was preceded in death by her parents and step brother.
