Steve L. Petticrew, 63 of Shannon, passed away suddenly on February 26, 2020 while vacationing in Mexico. Steve was born in Freeport to the late John and Dorothy (Donaldson) Petticrew. He was a 1974 graduate of Freeport High School and earned an Associate degree at Highland Community College. He met his wife Brenda Kauffman in 2006 and they married June 27th, 2014 at their home in Shannon. Steve worked at Micro Switch/Honeywell for 32 years. Most recently he drove school bus for West Carroll School District, which he enjoyed very much.
He is remembered with love by his wife, Brenda of Shannon; son, Jacob (Tara) Petticrew of German Valley; daughter, Shelby (Chris) Cather of Dakota; step daughters, Morgan (Ryan) Mueller of Lanark and Annaliese Moll (Elijah Shultis) of Pearl City; 4 grandchildren (#5 on the way), and 1 step grandchild; two brothers - John (Cyndy) Petticrew of Machesney Park and David (Kathy) Petticrew of California; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and infant sister.
He was very athletic and enjoyed playing tennis, bicycling, golf, swimming, working out, and walking his dogs. He also brewed his own beer and liked to attend beer and wine tasting events. He was an excellent chef and took pride in making healthy meals. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. You could always count on his support and good advice. Steve was a loving brother, husband, father, grandpa and friend. He was known for his great sense of humor, practical jokes and being the life of the party. He touched many and will be dearly missed.
Services will be held Sunday, March 8, 2020 at 4 PM, with visitation from 12 noon until time of service, at Schwarz Park Blvd. Chapel, 608 S. Park Blvd. in Freeport, IL. A memorial will be established in his name at a later date.
