Shirley Ann Johnsey, age 80, of Freeport, IL, went home to be with Jesus on Sunday November 3, 2024 at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport. She was born on December 20, 1943, the daughter of Robert and Alice (Steffen) Klitz. Shirley was retired from The City of Freeport, where her 26-year career spanned both the Mayor's Office and the City Engineer's Office. An avid reader, she cherished her love for books even in her later years.

Shirley is survived by her sons: Tim (Diane) Solberger of Monroe, WI, Terry Solberger of Freeport, IL, and Chris (Dawn) Johnsey of Freeport, IL; grandchildren: Kayla, Nolan, Terry (Bob) and spouse, and Austin Solberger, and Kelaiah (Adam) Daws; and great-grandchildren: Bentley, Holloway, and Sterling.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother Jimmie Klitz.

In keeping with Shirley's wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral services. There will be a private Celebration of Life for her immediate family at a later time.
