Celebrating the Life and Legacy of  Sarah J. Stacy

On a wintery day (December 15, 1947) in West, MS George and Annie (Williams) Whitehead were blessed with the arrival of their second child Sarah Juanita.  Shortly after the birth of Sarah, in search of better opportunities, the family relocated to Freeport, IL.   Sarah was educated in the Freeport Public School System and attended Highland Community College.  There she earned a certificate as an Emergency Medical Technician.

Sarah moved to Cincinnati, OH and later to Buffalo, NY.  She returned to Freeport and was employed by Newell Manufacturing as a shipping clerk and later for Aero Computer, LTD.

Sarah was a member of The New Second Baptist Church and was huge financial contributor and volunteer coordinator for the food pantries at The New Second Baptist and Faith For Miracles Deliverance & Worship Center.  She loved and was deeply concerned about her family and friends wanted to ensure everyone was "alright".  Sarah was a good neighbor and enjoyed her apartment at Meadow Ridge.  She was known for her positive outlook on life and the smile she kept on her face even in the midst of her illness.

After a long, hard, courageous battle she heard the voice of the Master say, "Come home my child and take your rest." Sarah transitioned into the presence of the Lord on March 25, 2021 in Freeport, IL.  She leaves to cherish her loving memory her son, Carl Arnold Sr. of Denison, TX,  sisters; Betty Carroll of Freeport, IL, Sharon Taylor of Peoria, IL, and Ramona (Joewillie) Fair of Rockford, IL, brothers;  Rev. George (Francis) Whitehead Sr. of Schaumburg, IL, and Bishop David Whitehead of Freeport, IL, nine grandchildren; Amber Pomlee  and Demerious Arnold of Freeport, IL, Shontay Ellis of Springfield, IL, Robin Arnold of Atlanta, GA, Deja Freeman and Mikayla Freeman both of Memphis, TN, Destiny Green, and Carl Arnold Jr., both of Little Elm, TX and Ashton Klutt of Denison, TX,  six great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Annie Whitehead, maternal and paternal grandparents, three brothers; Jerry, Charles, and Jimmie Whitehead and one sister Bessie Mae Horton.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Schwarz Funeral Homes Chapel, 608 S. Park Boulevard, in Freeport, IL.
