Russel E. Korth, 98, of rural Freeport, joined the love of his life in heaven on their wedding anniversary December 12, 2020. Russel was born October 9, 1922, to George and Beada (Lied) Korth. He graduated from Freeport High School in 1940. In 1944, Russel married Eva Clark and together, they raised 5 children: Patricia(David)Good, Mukwonago, WI, Barbara(Marvin)Pieper, Orangeville, William(deceased), Janice(Steven)Schneiderman, Lena, John(Wendy)Korth rural Freeport. He leaves 11 grandchildren, Michael(Karen)Good, Daniel Good, Sherry(Rich)Moyer, Joy(Jason)Roth, Brad(Kelli)Pieper, Timothy(Jenny)Schneiderman, Katie Schneiderman(Raymond Marschang), Rebecca Korth(Garrett Schmidt), Elizabeth(Heath) Wales, Amanda(Garet)Ballard, Benjamin(Brandy)Korth and 17 great-grandchildren. He is survived by a sister, Ethel Wichman. His older sister, Florence Heck preceded him in death.

Russel learned to work at a very early age as his father died when he was 6. He helped his family on their small farm and farmed on his own after graduation. Russel had a special interest in Brown Swiss cattle which is shared by John and family. He was involved with the Brown Swiss Breeders' Association. He served on the Cedarville Cemetery board, was Buckeye township clerk, a director for Farm Bureau and Tri-State Breeders. He was very involved with the Emmanuel E C Church of Cedarville holding numerous board positions and a long-time Sunday school teacher. Recently he attended the Afolkey Grace E C Church.

Russel was a good father and a fun grandpa with his horses and ponies. Private family services are planned. A memorial is established for the Afolkey Grace Church in his name. Online condolences may be shared at www.schwarzfh.com
