Obituary

Roger W. Summers, 67, a resident of Stockton, IL passed away on Monday, July 6, 2020 at Allure in Mt. Carroll. He was born August 20, 1952 in Humboldt, Tennessee.
Devoted Father of Tonya (Gene) Knapp, Sheila (Greg) Offenheiser, Katie Summers, and Joe (Ibis) Summers; Adored Grandfather of Jared, Kristen, Aaden, Izayah, Bryar, Ashton, Landon, Kiarra, Aaleah, and Brylee; Beloved son of the late Joe W. and Helen Summers (Banks); Dear brother of Diane (Chuck) Kozielski, Dan Summers, and Debbie Heidenreich; and a fond brother-in-law, uncle, great-uncle, nephew, cousin and friend to many.
Roger's all time favorite pastime was baseball. The Chicago White Sox was his favorite team. In his youth, he was a good baseball player and a good boxer. He graduated high school from Lena-Winslow in 1970, attended Rock Valley Community College and then graduated from the Police Academy. He served as the Chief of Police in Durand, IL for several years. He later was a security guard, taxi cab driver and dispatcher.
He enjoyed vacationing with his family, his RC (Roger's Cola), eating pizza, playing Rook, Poker, Monopoly, watching and collecting movies, telling great stories, shining quarters and making homemade fudge every Christmas for his family.
Due to the Pandemic, the burial and Celebration of Life will be at a later date. Rev Kimberly L. Neace will be officiating.
Interment: Lady Union, Stockton, IL
