Robert L. Poncar, 82, of Lanark, IL, passed away on June 21, 2026. He was born on September 23, 1943 in Chicago, IL, to Charles and Helen Sostowski. He attended IL School for the Deaf. He married his wife Gail at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Freeport, and was a member of St. Wendelin in Shannon, IL.

Survivors include his wife Gail, daughters: Gina, Bobbie, and Valerie; son John, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother Helen, father Charles, and sister Joan.

Visitation will be held on Thursday June 25, 2026, from 9:30 AM - 11 AM, with funeral mass to follow, at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Freeport, IL, with Monsignor Glenn Nelson will officiating. Interment in Calvary Cemetery in Freeport.
