Robert Wesley Nelson, 84, of Lanark, IL, passed away on April 5, 2023 at FHN. He was born on November 14, 1938 in Sterling, IL, to Howard L. and Dorothy M. (Miller) Nelson. He married Joyce K. Hockman on October 16, 1959 in Lanark, IL. He owned Nelson Quarry Products in Lanark and was a member of First Brethren Church in Lanark. He served 16 years as alderman on Lanark City Council, and 24 years on Lanark Fire Dept.

Survivors include his daughter Deanna (Mark) Johnson of Lanark, granddaughters: Jocelyn (Matt) Lilly of Lanark,  Katelyn (Jason) Alvarado of Lanark; and great-granddaughters: Presley Alvarado and Macie Lilly of Lanark.

He was preceded in death by his wife Joyce Nelson, son John Nelson, brother William Nelson, and parents, Howard and Dorothy Nelson.

A graveside service will be held on a later date at Lanark City Cemetery.

A memorial has been established in his memory at the Ferguson Cancer Center in Freeport, IL, and the Lanark Fire Dept. in Lanark, IL.
