Robert (Jerry) Jerrold Munda, age 83 of Freeport IL passed away peacefully on 08/07/2023 at Liberty Village Nursing Home in Freeport with his partner Sandy Lawson by his side. He was born on 09/19/1939 at St Francis Hospital in Freeport IL. He was the son of Robert Stephen Munda and Mary Jane Hummel Munda.
Robert married Judith (Judy) Kleckler on 11/14/1964 and divorced in 2001. Together they had 3 children, Amy (Jeff) Kness, Bradley Munda (Amy Hesselbacher), and Beth Cloyd.
Jerry met Sandy Lawson in April of 2005. She was a loving partner who stayed by his side until his passing. Jerry and Sandy loved gardening, canning, and spending time with family and friends.
Jerry attended St. Joseph and graduated from Aquin High School in 1957. He worked for Honeywell for 41 yrs. and retired in 2001. The first 21 yrs. he was an inspector for screw machines, an apprentice electrician, then maintenance supervisor. The last 21 yrs. he was a technician in facility engineering.
Jerry enjoyed outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing and just relaxing on his 23 acres of paradise.
He is survived by his partner Sandy Lawson of Freeport. His children daughter Amy (Jeff) Kness and granddaughters Bailey Kness and Hanna Kness and great granddaughter Reagan LaBudde, son Bradley Munda (Amy Hesselbacher) and granddaughters Michaela Munda and Celeste Munda, daughter Beth Cloyd and grandson Nate Cloyd. Sandra Lawson's children, Tom (Debbie) Lawson, Brian Lawson and Sara Thompson, Brent (Rachel) Lawson, Beau Lawson and grand and great grandchildren. Former wife and mother of his children Judith Munda, and sister-in-law Pamela Feagan and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, mother and sister Mary Munda Garcia, sister-in-law Karly Huber and brother-in-law Terry Kleckler.
Per Jerry's wishes there will be a visitation at Schwarz Park Blvd Chapel, 608 S Park Blvd. Freeport IL on Sat. 08/12/2023 from 2 – 4 pm followed by a Celebration of Life at 6 pm at 1818 Rt 20 East Freeport IL. Please send cards to 1508 W Empire St. Freeport IL 61032.
