Richard "Rex" L. Brinkmeier

In loving memory of Richard "Rex" L. Brinkmeier, whose life was a tapestry of service, family, and passion. Born on July 6, 1938, in Lanark, Illinois, Rex was the cherished son of Royal and Gertrude (Johnson) Brinkmeier and AnnaMay Martinez. His journey through life was marked by a commitment to his country, as he served honorably in the United States Army from 1956 to 1968.

On September 25, 1974, Rex married the love of his life, Maridy Ann Kintzel, in Rockford, Illinois. Together, they built a life filled with adventure and joy. After his military service, Rex found his calling at Liebovich Bros Inc., where he contributed his skills and dedication. Rex's hobbies were a reflection of his vibrant spirit; he enjoyed boating on local rivers and lakes, always in search of the elusive "Big One" while fishing. He embraced the thrill of golf and took pride in coaching youth sports, instilling a sense of teamwork and determination in the children he guided. A devoted fan, Rex closely followed his favorite team, the Chicago Bears, and often dreamed of hitting the jackpot at local casinos.

Rex leaves behind a loving family, including his devoted wife, Maridy, his brother, William (Connie) Wagner of Freeport IL; Sister In-Law, Karen Capone of Casa Grande AZ, and his children: Michael Brinkmeier of Hoover, Alabama; Anthony Brinkmeier of Orlando, Florida; and Nate (Becky) Linder of Griffith, Indiana. He is also survived by three daughters: Cheryl (Johnny) Mock of Samson, Alabama; Amy (Scott) Shippy of Freeport, Illinois; and Jaymie (Melvin) Isom of Collierville, Tennessee. His legacy continues through his ten grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly.

Though Rex has departed this earthly realm, he is preceded in death by his parents, his son Gary Brinkmeier, and three sisters—Jennette (Robert) Ritter, Barbara (Gerald) Ortt, and Beverley Ranck. He was also preceded in death by four siblings-in-law: Frank (Sandy) Fryer, Thomas Capone, and Elizabeth Maurer.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, June 27, 2025, at Oakland Cemetery & Mausoleum in Freeport, Illinois, with Pastor Mike Woodward officiating. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during a visitation from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at Schwarz Park Blvd. Chapel, 608 S. Park Blvd in Freeport. In honor of Rex's memory, a memorial has been established, ensuring that his spirit continues to shine brightly in the lives of those who loved him.
