Obituary

On February 14, 2021, Richard (Rick) James Crichton of Shannon, Illinois, passed away much too soon at age 73.

Rick was born December 21, 1947 in Elgin, Illinois to Willard (Bill) and Myrtle (Mic) (Jochheim) Crichton. He graduated from Shannon High School in 1965. On October 5, 1969, Rick married RoseMarie Rolando. They built a beautiful home outside of Shannon where they raised two daughters, Jennifer and Melisa, and a son, Michael.

Rick began his working life at his parents' business in Shannon. He became a skilled butcher and meat cutter which led to Rick and Rosie owning R-n-R Poultry Processing in Shannon, Illinois for eleven years. He went back to work as a meat cutter after that until retirement. Rick was very proud of his work ethic and skills as a butcher, often helping family and friends make brats and process meat.

Rick had many interests throughout his life: horses, hunting, fishing (especially in Canada), gardening, flowers, house plants, and traveling with his wife. Rick's grandkids were truly the loves of his life, and he was happiest when they were around. After moving to town, Rick and Rosie spent a lot of time with Rick's Aunt Barb. She was very special to him. Rick also very much enjoyed morning coffee with the boys at the 'South Side Cafe' and loved playing Santa.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents Mic and Bill and his brother Charles (Chuck). He is survived by his wife Rosie, children Jennifer (Pat) Kelly, Missy (Jason) Anderson, and Mike (Nikki) Crichton, fourteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, sisters Joyce Auer and Linda Schutt, brother Bill (Dawn) Crichton, niece, nephew, great-nephews, Aunts Barb and Norma, and many cousins.

Rick will be greatly missed by his family and friends, especially his wife of 51 years, his kids, and his grandkids who thought the sun rose and set by him.

Rick's family is very grateful for the exceptional care he was given while at FHN on 3rd Floor East.

There will be no service per Rick's wishes.
