Phyllis C. Craig, 87, of Ridott, Illinois fell asleep in death Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at Swedish American Hospital in Rockford, Illinois. She was born as Phyllis Jones on November 18, 1932 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Wilbur and Nellie Jones. Raised in Lena, Illinois on the family farm, she graduated from Lena High School. She worked on the family farm until she married John Morson Sr in 1944 and later married Allen Craig in 1998.

Phyllis was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses October 26, 1968 and was a member of the Freeport Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses in Freeport, Illinois. She enjoyed telling others the Good News of God's Kingdom. (Matthew 24:14) She believed that soon God's Kingdom in the hands of Jesus Chris will bring wonderful blessings to the earth. One of those greatest blessings will be the ending of sickness and death. (Revelation 21:3, 4) Her family is confident that she is in Jehovah God's memory, and that in God's due time she will be resurrected to life on earth. (John 5:28, 29)

Those who knew Phyllis knew she had a passion for cooking, especially for family and large gatherings. She was known for her southern style of cooking and her many varieties of cookies. One could not visit her home without having a piece of pie or a cookie before leaving. She was also known for her card playing skills as she never forgot a card played.

Survivors include her brother, Jerry (Susan) Jones of Lena, Illinois, sister, Susan (Steve) Scheider of Lena, Illinois; sons, John (LaDonna) Morson Jr of Vicksburg, Mississippi, Timothy Morson of Beloit, Wisconsin, Mark (Brenda) Morson of Durand, Illinois and Twyla Kleinhans of Ridott, Illinois; 8 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Allen Craig; 2 infant sons; brothers, Richard Jones and Stanley Jones; sisters, Vivian Eisen and Sally Mitchell.
