Pamela Sue Love, 66, of Freeport, Illinois, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2026, at Serenity Hospice and Home. Pam was born March 4, 1960, in Rockford, Illinois, to Gerald Stanley Likens and Anna Mae Likens. She attended Freeport High School and was a member of the Class of 1978. Pam became a mother at just 15 years old, and from that moment forward, she faced life with a strength and determination that carried her through every obstacle placed in her path. Life was not always easy, but Pam had an incredible ability to keep moving forward, love deeply, and make the best of whatever came her way. For more than 30 years, Pam worked for Kmart, spending part of her career as an assistant store manager. Pam had a genuine kindness about her and a way of making people feel comfortable from the moment she met them. She never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with just about anyone. Her compassion and warmth made people feel welcome, seen, and cared for. Pam had a deep love for nature and all of its beauty. She enjoyed long scenic drives, taking in the countryside, trees, wildlife, and all the little things along the way. She appreciated the simple things in life and could find beauty in places others might pass right by. She also had an enormous love for animals. Her fur babies, cats and dogs alike, were family to her, and she had a soft spot for any animal that needed love. Pam also loved a good thrift store. She enjoyed wandering the aisles, looking for treasures, bargains, and whatever unexpected thing might catch her eye. A long scenic drive with a thrift-store stop along the way was her kind of day. Above everything else, Pam loved her family.

She is survived by her husband, James Ice; her daughter, Allysa (Alvin) Bower; her grandchildren, David, Sage, and Zarin Gardner; her great-grandchildren, David IV, River, Sampson, and Aria; her nephew, Tracey Griffin; and her beloved fur babies.

Pam was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Anna Likens; her sister, Marsha Kay Griffin; her brother-in-law, Ronald Griffin; and her niece, Andrea “Andi” Griffin.

Pam will be remembered for her kindness, compassion, strength, and the way she made people feel cared for simply by being herself.

If her body had been as strong as her heart, she would have lived forever.

And in the hearts of those who loved her, she always will.
