Miriam Stortz passed into the arms of our Lord Jesus on May 14, 2025. Born August 12, 1927 in Allentown PA, to Henry and Helen Scheirer of Laury, PA.

She has one surviving daughter, Vicki L. Aten, son-in-law, John M Aten, granddaughter Heather Rose Aten, great granddaughter Emma-Rose M. Aten, all of Freeport, IL.

She is preceded in death by her husband George R. Stortz and Son Gregory D. Stortz, as well as her parents and two sisters, Gladys Scheirer and Eleanor Johnson.

She was a secretary for the Morning Call Newspaper in Allentown PA, for many years. She was also a secretary at Rodale Press in Emmaus, PA, She was a caring and loving person. She loved everything life had to offer. After her husband passed she moved to Illinois to live, love, and enjoy the family she had left. For the last 20 years we have cried, laughed, and learned together. Her wisdom, common sense, and great humor will live with us forever. We were blessed to have her in our home.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday May 31, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Dakota Rock Grove United Methodist Church.
