Michael John VanHorn of Freeport, IL, passed away on Monday February 8, 2021 at home. He was born in Freeport to John and Jean (Michael) VanHorn on May 3, 1965.

He attended Pearl City School, Educators of Beauty Cosmetology, and Highland Community College. Michael was a licensed cosmetology teacher. Michael worked as an educator with L'oreal, Educators of Beauty, and Josef Phillips Academy. He also worked at various salons and was owner of AbFab Salon and Spa.

Michael was very artistic. Anyone who visited his home would find every room in the house with a different color scheme. Also, for many years, held an annual Christmas open house, and every room was again decorated with different color schemes and changed annually.

Surviving are his mother, Aunt and Uncle Karen & Roger Bremmer, Aunts Shirley VanHorn and Nona VanHorn, "Special Family" Stephanie, Bryana, Brayden Meyers, and Donte' Richards, and cousins. Also surviving are Tanner and Dr. Bombay.

Preceding him in death was his father.

There will be no services. A memorial has been established for the Friends Forever Humane Society in Freeport.
