Obituary

Michael "Mike" O. Hiveley, 73, of Freeport, IL formerly of North Port, FL unexpectedly passed away on Tuesday, November 15th, 2022 at Javon Bea Hospital. Mike was surrounded by his loving significant other, Linda Diddens, his brother George (Marcia Cox), his sons Troy and Chad, his daughters-in-laws Hailey and Ashley, his granddaughters Keira and Lilly, and many lifelong friends.

Mike was born on September 8th, 1949 in Freeport, IL. The son of the late George E. and Marjorie G. (Huber) Hiveley. He married Jeannie K. Buss. She proceeded him in death on April 5th, 2017. Mike was a 1967 graduate of Freeport High School. He continued his education at Highland Community College where he studied his favorite hobby, auto mechanics. Mike was a life time member of the Local 150 Operating Engineers. Mike's hobby for auto mechanics became his life's passion. His favorite pastime was spent in his garage working on his Corvette, transmissions, and vehicles of the many people who he knew. Hard- working and dedicated would be the two traits that highlighted his personality. Mike was a member of Eagles Club and attended St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Freeport, IL. Mike was a truly admirable spouse, brother, father, grandfather, and friend. His family will carry him in their hearts and honor his memory for generations to come.

Mike is survived by his S/O Linda Diddens; his two sons Troy (Hailey) and Chad (Ashley); his brother George H. (Marcia Cox) Hiveley; his sister-in-law Karen and Randall Burkhalter; his granddaughters: Keira and Lilly Hiveley, Aliyah Parsons, and Sophie Madilyn; his nephews: Jim (Amber), Jeff (Anne), Jon (Jodie) Hiveley; Shane (Jamie) and Ryan Buss; his nieces: Kelly (Mitch) Staas, Amanda (Jamie) Meier; his great nieces and nephews: Caitlyn, Kelsey, Ava, Jack, Ben, Greta, Bridget, Mary, Lucy, and Piper.

Mike is preceded in death by: Jeannie Hiveley, George E. Hiveley, Marjorie Hiveley, Cathy Hiveley, Steven Buss, Harry Huber, Charles Buss, and Eileen (Blair) Buss.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday November 22, 2022 at 1 PM, at the Schwarz Park Blvd Chapel, 608 S. Park Blvd in Freeport, IL., with Deacon Kim Hemesath officiating. Friends may call at the Chapel at 12 noon.
