Michael Allen Black, 63, of Freeport, IL, passed away on May 16, 2025. He was born on August 10, 1961 in Freeport, IL to Mernice Black and Kathryn (Castle) Black. He was a cook at the Club Esquire for many years. He also worked at Newell Rubbermaid for many years. Mike loved fishing with his kids as they were growing up and up until his passing. He also liked watching old TV shows. Mike also had the experience of remodeling his 2 homes. For the past 40 years, he had a workshop where he continually grew his knowledge and experience in woodworking, creating and making many wood projects for family and friends, and even selling a lot of items. He also enjoyed having lengthy conversations with his neighbor Sandy. He also helped her with some different tasks around the house.

Survivors include daughter Jessica (Terry, Sr)) Ross of Springfield, IL, son Joshua Black of Freeport, IL, brother Stephan Black of Freeport,IL, sister Lynn (John) Wichelt of Michigan, grandchildren: Terry, Jr and Aaliyah Ross. Nieces: Emily and Megan Sager, nephew Matthew Wichelt, and his 2 dogs Porter and Dobby, whom he loved very much.

He was proceeded in death by his parents- Mernice Black of Englewood. FL and Kathryn (Kenneth) Eggemeier of Freeport, IL.

In honoring his wish, no services will be held. Cremation rites have been accorded. Interment will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport in the Gardens of Memories Wall.
