Michael Allen Althafer, 39, of Sun Prairie, WI. passed away on Saturday June 27, 2020. He was born in Freeport, IL on April 28, 1981, to Mark Alan Althafer and Melissa Sue Loring. He was a member of Capital City Family Worship Center. Michael had a big heart and loved spending time with his sons most. He loved camping, fishing, hunting, and just being outdoors. He enjoyed playing his guitar and singing. He owned Althafer Construction and volunteered his free time to his church and anyone who really needed help.

Survivors include his father: Mark Althafer of Freeport, IL; grandparents: Keith (Phyllis) Althafer of Lena, IL, and Leona (Walt) Heinze of Eaton, CO; sons: Tyler Mashaw of Freeport, IL, and Legacy Althafer of Sun Prairie, WI; sister: Michelle (Brandon) Kreeger of Rockton, IL; nieces and nephews: Arielle Ashley, Madelynn Ashley, and Tyler Kreeger; aunts and uncles: Maryjane (Sam) Ferguson, Hope (Steve) Bradford, Kim (Terry) Schubert, Kelly (Ray) Hunt, Maureen (Brian) Malloy, Ronica (Henry) Lara, David (Kathy) Loring, Danny (Sherri) Loring, Kevin (Michelle) Althafer, and Mat (Marinella) Althafer.

He was preceded in death by his mother: Melissa "Mitzi" Loring of Freeport; grandparents: Dorothy (Iner) Lief of Freeport, Donald Loring of Freeport, and Shirley Althafer of Pearl City; aunts: Kay Gipe, Laura Holmes, and Holly Loring.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday July 1, 2020 at 6 PM, with a visitation from 4 PM until time of service, at the Schwarz Park Blvd. Chapel, 608 S. Park Blvd. in Freeport, IL.
