Mary Ann Mitchell (Byl) went home to be with her Lord and Savior, on Sunday May 23 ^rd , 2021, at FHN Memorial Hospital. She was born March 26 ^th , 1933 in Lancaster Township, to Christiaan and Florence (Wolf) Byl. Mary went to school in Pecatonica, IL.  She married Everett Mitchell on December 31, 1952, in Ridott, IL. Everett and Mary initially lived in Norfolk, VA while Everett was in the Navy. Everett and Mary have dairy farmed in the Dakota area since 1956.

She attended Park Hills Evangelical Free Church, as well as Winneshiek Evangelical Free Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher for many years and touched many lives. Mary always had a smile on her face and welcomed everyone she knew.

Mary is survived by the love of her life, her husband Everett Mitchell.  Her son Kenny (SanDee) Mitchell. Mary loved her grandchildren Matt (Stephanie) Mitchell, and Annie (Blaine) Stamm. She also had 4 precious great grandchildren, who brought her great joy, Jacob and Mya Mitchell, and Madasyn and Molli Stamm. She is also survived by her brother Lyle Byl, and her sisters Emma Pieper and Lucy Runte, sister-in-law Cecil Nyen, as well as many special nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers George Byl and Mervin Byl, her sister Elizabeth Sigafus, her brother-in-law's Verle Sigafus, Merle Pieper, and Roger Runte, and sister-in-law's Joan Byl, Ruth Byl, and Esther Byl. She was also preceded by her brother/sister in-laws Wilbur and Alice Mitchell, Glen and Beryl Miller, and Kermit Nyen.

In honoring the family's wishes, no services will be held. Interment will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport, IL.
