Mary Kerr, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, peacefully departed this world on August 16, 2026, at Serenity Estates. Born on December 13, 1944, in Aitkin, Minnesota, Mary was the cherished daughter of Noah and Esther Evans. Her life was a testament to the strength and warmth that defined her character, and she leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Raymond, her sister Ann, and her husband, Alvin Kerr, they were married for 53 years. Together, they raised two sons, Joseph and Steven, who turned out to be fine young men. Mary is survived by her sons Joseph (Melody) and Steven (Heather), her siblings Patricia, Sandra, and Thomas, and her grandchildren Bryce, Alexa, and Jaxson.

A dedicated healthcare professional, Mary graduated from Meadowlands, Minnesota High School in 1962 and pursued her passion for nursing, earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Highland Community College in 1992. She devoted many years of her life to nursing, eventually serving as a Director of Nursing, where her care and commitment touched countless lives.

Mary's vibrant spirit extended beyond her professional life. She was the founder of the Free Spirit Cloggers and active in the Stephenson County Antique Engine Club. She was also a life member of Abate, reflecting her adventurous nature and love for riding the white Harley (Her favorite) to Manny’s in Savanna for pizzia.

Her hobbies were as diverse as her interests, from knitting and crocheting to collecting dolls and elephants, her favorite animal and anything Elvis. She loved Elvis and now they are forever linked with the same day of passing. Mary's home was filled with treasures that spoke to her passion for collecting and her endearing inability to part with her beloved items. She had a fondness for watching daytime soaps and indulging in nearly anything on TV. Known for her delightful pecan pie and her candid nature, Mary was never shy about expressing her opinions, often humorously leaving a penny for a tip if service at Cracker Barrel fell short of her expectations.

Mary's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Heritage Woods and Serenity Estates for their exceptional care and love during the past few years. Their kindness and dedication provided comfort and peace to Mary in her final days.

In accordance with Mary's wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests donations be made to a charity of your choice in her memory.

Mary Kerr will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends, as they cherish the beautiful memories she left behind.
