Mary J. Boyer, age 94, previously from Lena, Illinois, passed away at Manor Court in Freeport on March 17, 2025.

She was born February 14, 1931, to Delbert (D.) and Evelyn (Colyar) Carpenter near Stockton, Illinois.  Mary graduated from Warren High School and worked a short time at W. T. Rawleigh Company in Freeport, Illinois. She married Robert A. Boyer on October 10, 1953.  He preceded her in death on February 18, 2016.  She enjoyed puzzle books and crocheted many afghan blankets for friends and family.

Mary is survived by three children; two sons, Wendell (Linda) Boyer of Janesville, Wisconsin, and Kevin (Linda) Boyer of Winslow, Illinois; and one daughter, Nancy (Randy) Pfile of Decorah, Iowa.; five grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Florence Bonjour and Clarice Distler; and one brother, Vern O. Carpenter.

Cremation rites have been accorded and arrangements handled by Schwarz Funeral Home.  A private family burial will be at a later date.

Mary's family would like to thank all the staff from Liberty Village and FHN Hospice for their wonderful care. Memorials in Mary's name may be made to Hawthorne Inn or FHN Hospice in Freeport.
