Margaret A. Klekamp, 74, of Freeport, Illinois, passed away on January 15, 2026, along with her beloved husband Vincent. Born on July 31, 1951, Margaret was a lifelong resident of Freeport with deep roots in the community. She was the daughter of the late Dr. Lester Paul Bunchman and Ruth (Wilson) Bunchman. A proud graduate of Freeport High School in the Class of 1969, Margaret remained a staple of the town throughout her life. Margaret was a dedicated professional who spent 30 years as a valued employee of Freeport Lawn & Leisure and Murphy and Gustafson of Freeport. Her work ethic and presence in the local business community left a lasting impact on all who knew her. Outside of work, Margaret found her greatest joy in her home and family. She was an avid gardener who took great pride in her beautiful flower beds and famously loved the simple peace of mowing the lawn. She was an excellent cook, but her favorite role was that of a devoted and loving grandmother to her three beautiful grandchildren, whom she cherished deeply. Margaret was the beloved wife of Vincent J. Klekamp, for 52 years. Vincent also passed away on January 15, 2026. Together, they shared a life of commitment to their family and their community.

She is survived by her devoted daughter, Lesley Klekamp, and son-in-law, Tim Miller, her beloved grandchildren: Devin, Drew, and Trinity and great grandchild Kasohnn, her sisters: Mary (Dwight) O'Keefe of Springfield, IL, and Paula (Robert) Schrader of Blairsville, GA. brother in laws David (Jennifer) Klekamp and Kenneth (Marilyn) Klekamp, her many nieces and nephews: Angela (Adam) Newman, Andrew (Tracey) Gustafson, Abbe (Jeff) Hayner, Amanda (Brennen) Roberts, Patrick (Carol) O'Keefe, Michael (Jasmine) O'Keefe, Daniel O'Keefe, Jennifer (Rob Magary) Bayer, Jesse (Stephanie) Schrader, Julie (Brett) Sparks, James (Rachel) Schrader. Christopher Klekamp, Jesse Klekamp and Jack Klekamp.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Vincent, her sister Martha Gustafson, and her brother-in-law James Gustafson.

Arrangements are being handled by Schwarz Funeral Home in Freeport.

Visitation to be held on Thursday January 29, 2026 from 4pm -6pm at Schwarz Park Blvd Chapel. located at 608 S. Park Blvd in Freeport IL. Celebration of Life to take place immediately following visitation at Freeport Country Club, 1614 S. Park Blvd in Freeport IL, from 6pm- 8pm.
