Stockton,

Lily Tolpo, 97, of Stockton, Illinois, passed away peacefully January 30,
2015 evening at the Elizabeth Nursing Home, Elizabeth, Illinois. Hospice
care was provided by FHN. Lily Tolpo was born in Chicago, IL and married artist, Carl A. E. Tolpo, in 1941. They made their home at Chicago's Italian Court and in their Fine Art studio/gallery homes they later built and designed together in Barrington, IL, 1950 and Stockton, IL, 1967. Lily Tolpo as renown Painter and Lincoln Sculptor was awarded Illinois' highest award, Lincoln Academy of Illinois Order of Lincoln Award in 2009. Her philosophy of life "To Live is to Give" touched the lives of private and public communities as well including contributions such as playing tunes on her fiddle and making "Zorita" appearances. She encouraged all the Arts for her family and her children all became professional artists.

Lily Tolpo, the artist, would often remind about the finding of great satisfaction in Art, recalls daughter, Carolyn T. Smith. Intuitiveness by Lily sparked our Smith family life as well, including: going with a hunt and chopping down of our Christmas Tree; telling a fantasy treasure of tales; crafting costume appearances, for pretending or not and out from her childhood brought a growing lullaby tradition - sung for her own family, the grandchildren, Lydia and Mark and most recently, for his daughter Scarlet, her great granddaughter. If life is a canvas she made it sing - with a special flare and lots of color.

She is survived by 3 children: Christine T. Bader and
husband Roy Bader, Carolyn T. (Charles E. Smith) Smith, Vincent
C. Tolpo and wife Carolyn L. Tolpo; 3 grandchildren: Lydia S. Smith and
husband Gary C. Griggs, Mark T. Smith and wife Sara C. Smith, Michael
Inglesh and wife Evonne Inglesh; and 2 great granddaughters: Scarlet C.
Smith and Amanda Inglesh.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her
husband, and four brothers. Memorial contributions in Lily Tolpo's name may
be made to The Freeport Art Museum, 121 North Harlem Avenue, Freeport, IL
61032.

Memorial services will be arranged by the family
in the spring.
