Lewis Henry Orth passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Monday, March 25th at Freeport Memorial Hospital.  Lewis was born on May 15, 1936 in Lost Nations, Iowa to Henry Louis and Bessie (Kramer) Orth.  He attended Stockton High School and served four years in the U.S. Navy.   Lewis worked at Atwoods, Leamons, and spent 30 years at Kelly Springfield Tire Company.    Lewis will always be remembered as a strong and hard-working man.

On January 16, 1959 he married Twila Marie Randecker in Kent, Illinois.  Together they had two children Douglas Lynn and Debra Marie.

Lewis had a knack for fixing anything and taught his children some of those skills.  He also loved to hunt, fish, camp, play cards especially euchre and quit your "complaining", and having coffee with the neighborhood men.  Once Lewis retired, he spent most of the summer in Wisconsin fishing.  He taught his children and grandchildren the love of fishing.  Lewis was a jokester who loved teasing family and friends.  His children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were his pride and joy.  He loved children and his nieces and nephews have many fond memories of Uncle Lewie.

Lewis is survived by his wife Twila of 65 years, his son Douglas (Terri Jo) Orth, his daughter Debra (Paul) Alber all of Freeport.  Also surviving are four grandchildren: Brandi (Bryan) Balles, Daniel Orth both of Freeport, Amber (Jay) Laue of South Beloit, Il and Derek (Jessica Chesney) Schurch of Scottsdale, Arizona.  He is also survived by five great granddaughters: Brea, Brittni and Brynlee Balles and Natalie and Whitney Laue.  His sixth granddaughter is due in May.  Also surviving is his brother Richard (Rebecca) Orth of Denton,Texas, three sisters Beverly Barker of Rockford, Mary (Jerry) Feltmeyer of Stockton, IL and Phyllis (Lenny) McNeil of Freeport.   He is also survived by two sister-in-laws Rita Randecker of Mendota, IL and Dorothy Orth of Freeport, IL as well as many nieces and nephews.

Lewis was proceeded in death by his parents and siblings Juanita Curboy and Donald Orth as well as his brother and sister in laws; James Barker, Owen Curboy, Daniel Randecker, Charles and Wilma Hovorka, Alice and Kenneth Croffoot, and Ralph and Mabel Boelk.

A private family service will be held on Saturday, April 6 at Chapel Hill Cemetery which will be his final resting place.  In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established for the American Family Children's Hospital in Madison.
