Lawrence "Larry" James Balboa         September 25, 1942 — May 31, 2025

Lawrence James Balboa, age 82, of Freeport, Illinois, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2025. Born on September 25, 1942, in Evanston, Illinois, Larry lived a full life filled with love, laughter and time spent with his family.

A proud U.S. Army veteran, Larry went on to build a successful 33-year career as a Regional Technician with Pitney Bowes. His passion for computer technology, music, movies, and photography was well known, and he was the go-to "Mr. Fix It" for friends and family. He was a mentor to many and the rock of the family. Whether he was repairing a gadget or sharing a perfectly timed joke, Larry had a gift for bringing humor into the lives of those he loved.

Larry was a devoted husband to Kim Balboa, his wife of 33 years, and a loving father to Ian (Vicky), Tiffany (Scott), Derek (Trista), Shannon (Andrew), and Jacob. He was also a cherished grandfather to many grandchildren who brought great joy to his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Ruth (Giessel) Balboa.

He had a strong faith in Jesus Christ and was a member of Open Bible Church in Freeport.

A visitation will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 14, 2025, followed by a memorial service at 12:00 pm at the Schwarz Park Blvd Chapel, 608 S. Park Blvd in Freeport, IL.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to help with expenses during this difficult time.
