Larry Lee Roach Jr., 57, of Pearl City, IL, passed on Thursday morning, August 14, 2025, at Walnut Acres Nursing Home (in Freeport, IL), surrounded by his girls. He was born in Freeport on February 12, 1968, to parents Lorraine (Visger) Roach and Larry Lee Roach Sr. He grew up in Lena, IL, and graduated from Lena High School in 1987.  Larry married Jane Weiss, of Lena, IL, on June 8, 1996, in Florence, IL. The couple raised two daughters, Jessica and Amber in Pearl City, IL, where the family became members of the First United Methodist Church. Larry worked in landscaping at Double K Nursery in Lena, and as a farmhand for Lorna and Randall Kuhlemeier in Pearl City, for 30 years simultaneously. He then started his own landscaping business with his wife for 3 years before retiring.

Surviving are his wife of 29 years, Jane (Weiss) Roach of Pearl City, IL, and his two daughters, Jessica Roach of Lanark, IL, and Amber Roach of Pearl City, IL. He also leaves behind his sisters, LuAnn Klever, Lena, IL, and LeAnn (Duane) Kappes of Freeport, IL, as well as sisters-in-law Carol Sander of Waddams Grove, IL, and Diane Weiss (Dan Thorough) of Woodstock, IL, and many cousins, aunts, and uncles. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Larry and Lorraine Roach, and his sisters, Lorrie Anderson and Lynette Roach.

Celebration of Life will be at Zion Community Church at 10100 W Sabin Church Road, Pearl City, IL, on Saturday September 6th with visitation from 12 to 1 and service at 1:00 pm.  A luncheon will follow the service. Private interment at further date.

The family would like to thank the wonderful, loving staff at Walnut Acres, and Heartland Hospice for their care and compassion. A special thanks to his friend, Tom Ozburn, for being his buddy and staying by his side through all the changes. Larry was truly blessed to have him.

Larry lived a simple life and devoted his time to his daughters and family. When he was young, he loved fishing and spending time with his four sisters. After starting his family, he switched to using nets for the koi fish in the backyard ponds he and Jane created. He loved gardening and landscaping; trimming topiary bushes was his forte. As busy as he was, he helped others whenever he could. He loved his pets; "Little Kitty" (Bean) was his favorite, as she started as a stray but swiftly became a member of the household. Larry loved food; lasagna and dirt dessert were his favorite dishes, while "sodie pop" was his drink of choice. He asked Jane if she could cook when they met, and her potato soup sealed the deal. He loved being outdoors and tried several different things over the years, like magnet fishing and gold panning. Most of all, he loved seeing as many firework shows as he could, sitting around the campfire in the backyard, and listening to music, always with his three girls by his side. Larry was very active in volunteering for research after he was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's Disease, and as his final act here, he donated his brain for Alzheimer's research at UW Madison. He wanted to do something for his daughters and the many others who are suffering from this deadly disease. We ask you to plant something purple to honor of him and to help us raise awareness for Alzheimer's. Participate in research if you can. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the family.
