Keith Florin Althafer, age 86, passed away at Lena Living Center on Saturday, February 5, 2022. He was born July 24, 1935, in Stephenson  County, the son of Florin Keith and Vera Althafer. Keith graduated from Pearl City High School where he played basketball and baseball. He was a lifelong dairy farmer in the Pearl City and Kent area until his retirement. He also sold PGA seed corn and worked in construction. He was an avid Cub and Packer fan. He enjoyed boating and fishing at Lake Carroll, mushroom hunting, golf and coaching little league baseball.

He is survived by his daughters Kim (Terry) Schubert, Kelly (Ray) Hunt, Maureen (Brian) Maloy and sons Kevin (Michelle) Althafer, Mark Althafer and Mathew (Marinella) Althafer, stepdaughter Patty (Ron) Stamm, along with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and all his siblings. Two wives Shirley (Harper) Althafer and Phyllis (Kampmeier) Althafer; Two daughters Kay Gipe and Laura Kiesel; grandchildren Michael Althafer, Mary Anne Kampmeier and great-granddaughter Josie Pena.

The family invites you to a joint visitation and service for Keith and his wife Phyllis (who recently passed away) from 4-6 pm on Friday February 11, 2022, at the Schwarz Park Blvd Chapel, 608 S. Park Blvd. in Freeport. A service will follow at 6 PM, with Wayne Fischer officiating.
