Kathleen A. Coates, 74, of Freeport, IL, passed away on December 22. 2024. She was born on July 18, 1950 in Freeport, to Elmer and Phyllis (Cowan) Clark. She received her associate's degree from Highland Community College, and was a retired Corporal with the Stephenson County Sheriffs Dept. She married Gary Coates on November 18, 1983.

Survivors include her husband Gary, son Daniel (Steffany) Halzel, daughter Angie (Shane) Riggle, stepchildren: Wendy (Chris) Gerke and Troy (Teresa) Coates; sister Linda (Larry) Monehan, Mother Phyllis Clark, grandchildren: Jessica, Nicole, Noah, Emily, Jacob and Daniel Halzel, Jr, Mackenzie (Andrew) Wenger, and Evan Riggle, Luke (Allison Gerke, and Skylar (Heather) Gerke.

She was preceded in death by her father Elmer Clark, maternal and paternal parents, and grandson Mathue Meighan.

A visitation will be held on Friday January 3, 2025 from 3PM - 5PM, with memorial service at 5PM, at the Oakland Mausoleum, 2619 W. Pearl City, Rd, in Freeport, IL.
