Joseph "Joe" A.
Kauffman
Jul 30, 1944 — Aug 25, 2026
With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Joseph (Joe) A. Kauffman, age 82, on August 25, 2026, at Liberty Village Manor Court, Freeport, IL, surrounded by his family.
He was a loving, supportive, patient, and hardworking man who treasured his family above all else. He was a devoted husband, a cherished father, a treasured grandfather, and great-grandfather whose love, guidance, and presence touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know him.
After a life filled with purpose and cherished memories, he was reunited in Heaven with his wife of 52 years, Dianne, whom he loved dearly, and his dog Buddy. Their reunion brings comfort to those who mourn his passing.
Joe had a lifelong love of cars and a knack for fixing just about anything. His family always joked that, with a little duct tape and tinfoil, he could repair almost anything. Through his work in vending machine maintenance for C.L. Swanson and paper delivery for the Freeport Advertiser, he made countless friends and connections over the years. It wasn't uncommon to meet someone who would immediately say, "Oh, I know Joe!" A testament to the many lives he touched. His wife Dianne always said he had a gift to gab.
Remaining to carry on his legacy are his children, Brenda Petticrew (Doug Queckboerner), Brad (Carol) Kauffman, Lanna Kauffman-Trigg (Rick). Grandchildren, Morgan (Ryan) Mueller, Annaliese (Elijah) Shultis, Damian and Nadine Kauffman. Great-grandchildren Vaida and Lux Mueller, Riley and Charlie Shultis, and Baby Shultis on the way.
Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy of love lives on through the many lives he touched. Joe will be cherished and remembered forever.
