John R. Nelson, 61, of Mt. Carroll, IL, passed away March 24, 2022 at Allure of Mt. Carroll. He was born in Savanna, IL on April 17, 1960, to Robert W. and Joyce (Hockman) Nelson. He was a 1978 graduate of Lanark High School and later attended Highland Community College. He was a member of First Brethren Church of Lanark.

Survivors include his father, Robert W. Nelson, sister, Deanna (Mark) Johnson, nieces: Jocelyn (Matt) Lilly and Katie (Jason) Alvarado; great-nieces: Presley Alvarado and Macie Lilly; and special friends: Linda Rogers, and Jane and Don Groharing.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Joyce (Hockman) Nelson.

Cremation rites have been accorded and a graveside service will be on a later date. Inurnment at Lanark Cemetery. A memorial has been established for FHN Hospice and Paco's Rescue Trails.
