John E. Crawford, 85, of Freeport, IL, passed away on July 14, 2022, at the VA Hospital in Madison, WI. He was born on February 27, 1937, in Freeport to James Crawford and Myrtle Folgate. He served in the US Army and on August 5, 1961, married Mary Ann Locash. He was retired from Modern Plating in Freeport.

Survivors include his wife Mary Crawford, children: Melody (Joe) Kerr, Julie (Scott) Bass, John (Carla) Crawford, Carey Kempthorne and Craig Kempthorne; Grandchildren: Kyle Veer, Kaley Veer, and Raegan Bass; Grand dogs: Buddy, Colby, and Yogi; Siblings: Lee & Shirley Crawford and Barb Smith (Jim Peters).

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Joan (Robert) Bardell, Betty Kraft, and Phyllis Janicke; and brothers: James (Tootie) Crawford and Phillip Crawford, and by in-laws: Joseph and (Gloria) Locash, Frank and (Grace) Locash and Samuel Locash.

Fond memories…. Trips to Beckmans Lake with a pitstop at DQ in Monroe, playing the record "Hand Jive" until the needle wore out, watching the Chicago White Sox, spending time with his grandkids, sneaking treats to Buddy, and John's favorite line "Oh boy I'll tell you".
