Obituary

Joann Irene Tacl, A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Born March 22, 1931 to Joseph and Anna (Sieferman) Tobin; passed away April 14, 2021. Joann graduated from Aquin High School in Freeport, IL in 1949 and married Frank Tacl on April 11, 1953. She moved with her family to Minnesota in 1958 and has lived there since then, except for two years in Nashville, TN where she made many good friends. Joann retired from the City of Bloomington in 1993. She was a worldwide traveler with an adventurous spirit. She wanted to skydive at the age of 90! Joann loved her family dearly and loved visiting the family compound at Lake Francis. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren's and family activities. Joann's Catholic faith was very important to her. She was a longtime member and volunteer at Nativity of Mary Catholic Church.

Joann Was preceded in death by husband, Frank; daughter, Laurie Murray; siblings, Jack Tobin, Marian Tobin and Rita Giuffre. She will be missed by her sons; Christopher (Karen) Tacl and Charles (Anne) Tacl; grandchildren, Christopher (Holly), Stephen (Jill), Elizabeth (Wes), Eric and Ryan; great-grandchildren, Oliver, Elliot, Cameron, Brooklyn and Charlotte; sister, Patricia (David) Fox; "third son", Fr. Dan Whitman and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

The family would like to thank the staff at Quiet Oaks Hospice for the excellent care that was provided for Joann.
Mass of Christian Burial, 12:00 pm, Thursday, April 22nd at the Church of the Nativity of Mary, 9900 Lyndale Ave. S., Bloomington. Visitation, 6:30-7:30 pm, Wednesday, April 21st at Gill Brothers Funeral Home, 9947 Lyndale Ave. S. and one hour prior to service at church. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery, Freeport II. Memorials preferred to Nativity of Mary Catholic Church or Freeport Catholic Schools.
A second funeral mass will take place at 1:00 pm on Friday, April 23rd at Schwarz Park Blvd Chapel, 608 S. Park Boulevard, Freeport, Illinois with visitation beginning at 12:00 pm.
