JoAnn Conkey, 86 of Freeport IL passed away peacefully in her home on Friday February 5, 2021. Born October 1, 1934 in Dixon IL. Daughter of Joseph and Ellen (Drake) Brooks. She married Robert Conkey on February 23, 1952.

While attending high school in Forreston, JoAnn was a member of the Queen's court for the famous Sauerkraut Days. She enjoyed working at the Forreston Post Office and later as a physical therapist at St Joseph's in Freeport. She lovingly fostered many infants and young children, most with special needs. A special prayer for Rudy, her dearest. JoAnn and Robert traveled the contingent 48 states as part of their retirement.

JoAnn is survived by her husband Robert of 69 years, son Michael (Cheryl) Conkey of Freeport IL, daughter Melody (and special friend Jake) Conkey of Bozeman MT, 5 grandchildren and 8 great- grandchildren. Also brothers Lester (Darlene) Brooks, Philip (Joanne) Brooks, and sisters Mary (Malcolm) Davis and Katherine Jacob.

She was preceded in death by 3 sons, Brian, Derrick and adopted son William, 1 grandson, and brother-in-law Keith Jacob.

At JoAnn's request, there will be no visitation or service. Cremation rites will be honored. Arrangements provided by Schwarz Funeral Home.
