Jim L. Quintero, 74, of Freeport, IL, passed away on December 30, 2021 at FHN. He was born August 26, 1947 in Freeport, IL to parents Ben and Viola (Winters) Quintero. He was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Freeport. Jim and Connie were married on February 15, 1986 at church by the side of the road in Rockton, IL. He worked for several years as a supervisor at Kelly-Springfield and then worked as a crane operator for Freeport Industrial Roofing for 30 years, retiring in 2006. He enjoyed gaming, yardwork, and traveling to the southern states, esp. Mississippi and Louisiana. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was looking forward in helping his grandson Connor learn to drive. He enjoyed grilling cheeseburgers with his granddaughter Gracie and getting donuts and cookies. Papa's famous cheeseburgers will be greatly missed.
Preceding him in death were his parents, 4 sisters: Mary, Ruth, Delores, Joyce; and 2 brothers: Benny and Raymond.
Survivors include 2 brothers: Henry and Ronald "Peanuts" his wife Connie, stepdaughter Melissa (Scott) Brooks, 2 grandchildren: Conner and Gracie; sister-in-law Mary (Ron), brother-in-law Russ (Karen), and many other relatives and friends.
Private funeral service will be held. A memorial has been established for the Humane Society.
He will be greatly missed and live on in our hearts forever.
