Norma Jean Sturtevant, 98, passed away on April 24, 2023. Jean was born on October 15, 1924 at Freeport General Hospital, Freeport Illinois. Jean was the daughter of George and Lucile (Senneff) Hammond. She attended Freedom country school in a horse and buggy. She was a graduate of Lanark High School. After high school she went to work at the Dixon State School and then to Rockford business college. After college, she met Merle Sturtevant and were married on February l0, 1945 in Clinton Iowa. They attended sporting events of the grandchildren. Jean worked at offices in Mt. Carroll and Lanark. Jean was a member of the Lanark United Methodist Church, Carroll, Jo Daviess Chapter of the DAR and the Order of the Eastern Star.

Jean is survived by sons Max, Kim (Karen) Sturtevant , grandchildren: Cheri (Rod) Fritz, Karla (Lee) Turney, and Katrina (Josh) Fuchs; great- grandchildren: Casey Fritz, Cooper and Paxton Turney, and Abigail and Landry Fuchs.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband Merle on March 25, 2023, her parents, and grandson Todd Sturtevant.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday April 29, 2023, at 11 AM, with visitation at 10 AM, at the Lanark United Methodist Church, 405 E. Locust St in Lanark, IL.
