Obituary

Janet Buss, 64, of Freeport IL, went to be with our heavenly father surrounded by her family on January 4th 2024. She was born on March 26th, 1959, to Phyllis (Collette) Machnicki. Janet married the love of her life Jeff Buss on June 23rd, 1990.

Janet worked her entire life being a waitress and serving many people in Rock Falls and Freeport IL. She has worked at numerous restaurants throughout Freeport including Two Eagles Family restaurant for 27 years and ending her career at the Landmark restaurant in 2022. When Janet was not working she enjoyed spending time watching her husband race in Freeport and Princeton IL, playing and spending time with her grandchildren and family. She lived a very enjoyable life knitting, crocheting blankets and watching T.V. Janet will be deeply missed by her family, friends and local customers.

Janet is survived by her husband Jeff of Freeport IL. Mother Phyllis Machnicki of Rock Falls IL. Her children Arron (Jenny) Ellis of Rock Falls IL. Eric (Heather) Ellis of Freeport IL. Mark Vernick of Freeport IL. Adam Buss of Freeport IL. Jason (Kindra) Reindel of Polo IL. Her siblings Joseph (Lisa) Johnston currently residing in Florida. Gerald (Joy) Johnston currently residing in Florida. Paul (Veronica) Machnicki of Sterling IL. Pamela (Mark) Vandersnick of Rock Falls IL. One Brother In-Law and Two Sister In-Laws. Janet has 15 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, uncles, aunts, nephews and nieces.  The family would like to thank CGH Oncology, North Illinois Cancer Center and FHN Hospice for all their support during Janet's battle with stage 4 lung cancer with metastatic brain lesions.

Preceded in death by grandparents, Joseph (Dorothy) Collette, Father Robert Machnicki, Mother-in-law Charlotte Buss, Brother-in-law William Mayborne and sister-in-law Tina Buss.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday January 10th, 2024, from 4pm – 7pm at Schwarz Park Blvd Chapel, 608 S. Park Blvd in Freeport IL. Services will be Thursday January 11, 2024 at 11am at Schwarz Park Blvd chapel.  Burial will take place at the Highland Cemetery in Pearl City, IL.

A small luncheon will be held after burial In the basement of the Park Blvd chapel.

A memorial has been established in her loving memory.
