Jane M. Summers of Lanark, IL died peacefully at home on Friday, May 31st, 2024 surrounded by the love of her daughters. Jane was born on November 15th,1938 to Harold and Alberta Hummel Eisenbise of Lanark. She married Arnold Myers of Polo on August 17, 1957. She spent her younger years raising her family in rural Polo where she farmed, listened and danced to music, and played cards with friends and family. Jane was an avid reader and a serious fan of both NASCAR and the St. Louis Cardinals. She loved supporting her children in their many activities including sports, Scouts, 4-H, school clubs,  music programs, and was a frequent room mother. She then married Lloyd Summers of Polo on November 20th, 1981. He preceded her in death on September 18th, 2001.

During her early career, Jane worked at the Dixon Developmental Center and  later worked in retail, where she was awarded Employee of the Month and Employee of the Year designations. She participated in card clubs, and was a great friend to many women, especially Linda Gift and Lois Garman. She met with friends for Taco Tuesdays at Dad's in Polo. She also enjoyed the Red Hats.  Jane loved her HUGE everything pig collection.

She was one of charter members in organizing Polo girls softball, and she also served as the secretary of her bowling league. She enjoyed traveling and had a passion for genealogy and explored many cemeteries which helped her to build family trees.

Jane was passionate about her role as a CASA special advocate, a skill that was instrumental in changing many children's lives, including her great-grandchildren- Reina and Hunter. She studied the Brethren religion and was a life-long member of the Church of the Brethren.

She was preceded in death by her son Thomas A. Myers of Dixon, brother Eric Peter Eisenbise of Lanark, parents, husband Lloyd, and her lifelong best friend Nancy Kimpel of Polo. Survivors include her beloved daughters Amy Milby (Jules) of Rock Falls IL, Susan Myers of Lanark IL, and Jacqueline (Bill) Kousoulas of Sycamore IL; her grandchildren Amanda Bertolozzi of Udall, MO, Chris Garza of Sterling, IL and Kali Rocco of Rockford IL; Step-grandchildren Amanda Bender of Sterling, IL, Aric Bender of Polo, IL, and Angie (Jason) Notch of Albany, MN; her great-grandchildren Reina (Megan) Kowalski of Fort Campbell, TN and Hunter Bertolozzi of Sterling, IL;  step-great-grandchildren Kelani Bender of Sterling, IL, Gavin Alvarado of Dixon, IL, Wyatt and Connor Bender of Polo, IL, Reid, Lila and Aubrey Notch of Albany, MN, sister-in-law Donna Eisenbise of Pearl City, IL, special niece Wendy (Tony) Covelli, of Homer Glen, IL; estranged brother Richard Eisenbise, Lanark IL,  many cousins, nieces, and nephews – not to mention her beloved mini-canine companion Trixie.

She was the strongest woman we've ever known.

Visitation will be held on Saturday June 8, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM with the funeral service immediately following at Lanark Church of the Brethren, 326 S. High St., Lanark IL.  Pastor Lynda Willmannn will be officiating. There will be a luncheon following the services.  Funeral arrangements have been made by Russel-Frank Funeral Home of Lanark IL.

A private interment with close family will be held at the Cherry Grove Cemetery Lanark IL at a later date.
