James L. Eden, 87, of Freeport, IL, passed away on August 15, 2022. He was born on December 30, 1934 in Massbach, IL, to Bert and Glades (Randecker) Eden. He graduated from Stockton High School, and on December 5, 1959, married Esther Beyer at First Lutheran Church in Freeport.

Survivors include his wife Esther, 3 children: Bradford (Sonja) Eden, of Wynnewood, PA, Sharie Bill of Freeport, IL, and Brian (Karla) Eden of Plano, TX; 5 granddaughters: Crystal, Brittany, Ashley, Madison and Noèllè; 2 grandsons: Colin and Nathaniel; and 1 great-granddaughter Penelope, 5 sisters: Jeanne Brophy, LaVerne Larson, and Merrietta Turgeon, all of Rockford, IL, Lou Ann Munson of Nicholasville, KY, and Ruby (Douglas) Schroeder of Freeport, IL; and 2 brothers: Marion (Kris) Eden of Pearl City, IL, and Robert (Kathy) Eden of Freeport, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial service will be held on Tuesday August 23, 2022 at 11 AM, with visitation from 10 AM until time of service, at First Lutheran Church in Freeport, with Rev. Keith Johnson officiating. Interment at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. A luncheon will follow the service at the church.
