Iva Jean Cauthen, 72, of Freeport, IL, passed away on September 24, 2022. She was born on June 6, 1950, in Freeport to John S. Cauthen and Kathryn L. (Stansberry) Johnson. She attended Freeport High School and worked 15 years at King Seeley Thermos before retirement. She was a member of Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church in Freeport.

Iva Jean was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. A lifelong resident of Freeport, IL. Iva loved listening to music and watching westerns on TV. She was always full of laughter and full of jokes. Iva would always be willing to help anyone she could. She was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church of Freeport, IL.

Survivors include her 5 children: Jeffrey Cauthen of Freeport, IL, Adrian Cauthen of Bloomington, IL, Melvin Parks, Jr of Joliet, IL, Kimberly (Cauthen) Crittle of Riverdale, IL, Ericka Parks, and  Dorrian Parks of Freeport, IL; 14 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 3 brothers: Ivan Cauthen of California, Wayne (Elaine) Cauthen of Freeport, and Kerry (Stayce) Thurman of Freeport; 3 sisters: Pamela (Cauthen) Arberry of Pflugerville, TX, Karen Cauthen of Georgia, and Gail (Thurman) Davis of Freeport, and special friend Georgia Herman.

She was preceded in death by her mother and stepfather, James and Kathryn Johnson, Father John S. Cauthen, sister Debra (Cauthen) Pye, sister Dorthea (Thurman) Johnson, brother Kelly R. Thurman, and brother Dennis C. Cauthen.

Memorial service will be held on Saturday October 1, 2022, at 11 AM, at the Schwarz Park Blvd Chapel in Freeport. Friends may call after 10 AM at the Chapel.

She will be truly missed....
