Glen Oliver Thruman of Freeport. died Thursday, August 22. 2024 at Mercy Health in Rockford. Glen was born on October 20, 1939, to Robert Sr. and Alice (Shay) Thruman. After attending high school, Glen worked his entire career at Modern Plating holding several positions as well as supervision of the plating process. He was an expert in plating and was able to teach many new associates the world of plating. On December 17, 1976, he married Nelda Stoner, and they shared 41 treasured years together. During their marriage they took many trips including Florida, Nashville, Dubuque, IA and places unknown. For more than 20 years, they enjoyed many adventures with family and friends at their lake property at Crystal Lake, Wisconsin. Both Glen and Nelda shared a love for animals including their 3 dogs, Mitzi, Sophie 1 and Sophie 2. His love for fishing is known far and wide and he was always eager to share his fish and knowledge. His time on the lake with Jimmie was always 'interesting" with fish tales to tell. Every year he would root for his beloved Bears no matter how they played. In his later years, he would cook many meals for the neighborhood. He loved his garden, feeding the birds, and mowing the lawn.

He is survived by his two daughters: Brenda Evetts of Wagoner, OK, and Gina (Al) Wasilewski, of Clinton, TN, three grandchildren: Brandon, Evan, and Jason Wasilewski; a stepson Darryl Mullens (Teresa Tenley) of Freeport, and numerous stepchildren and grandchildren.
