Gerald "Jerry" Sands, 84, of Freeport, IL, passed away on September 24, 2022. He was born near Jonesboro, Arkansas, to his Father George Patrick Sands. Jerry served in the army during the Korean War. He married Hazel Bower then Darlene Levi. Both preceded him in death.

Survivors include daughter Holly Jo Sands, son Rick (Melanie) Bower and family, son James (Marlene) Bower and family, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, and caregiver Kelly Abbot.

He was preceded in death by 3 sons: Chris Sands, Ron Bower, and Randy Bower; Daughter Val Remmers; Wife Hazel Bower, and Wife Darlene Levy Sands.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday October 2, 2022, from 3PM - 4PM, with visitation from 2PM to 3PM, at Park Hills Evangelist Church, 2525 W. Stephenson St in Freeport, IL.

Billy Kuhlemeier will be officiating.

Jerry enjoyed taking care of everyone whether he knew them or not but foremost loved his family. He was a jack of all trades and a master of many.
